‘Life is like’ – A haiku about mental health

Written by Jennifer Parker 19/10/16

Depression feels like
a complicated haiku,
about the seasons.

Anxiety is
like a scribble on paper
that you can’t erase.

Sadness is like art-
Made from a large pile of bricks
& nothing much else.

When panic sets in,
it’s like watching a glass fall,
just before it breaks.

Bipolar is like,
a roller coaster heading –
Straight into a wall.

ADHD is,
walking into every room
& forgetting why?

Insomnia is,
like watching every sunrise,
between heavy sighs.

Being overwhelmed,
is like having the best time
but crying after.

Racing thoughts are like,
a menu full of desserts
with 50 toppings.

Most of my life is,
nuking my coffee again.
But it still goes cold.
