ADHD as a Haiku

Written by Jennifer Parker, 7/7/17

(i)
Microwave coffee.
Film of milk skin forms on top.
It has a half life.

(ii)
I walk through the door.
Why am I in here again?
What was I doing?

(iii)
Work harder than most-
“You just need to try harder”.
Invisible life.

(iv)
I look for my keys.
I find them in my safe spot,
after half an hour.

(v)
Restricted substance.
My meds get kept in a safe
at the pharmacy.

(vi)
“Everyone does that”
– Stop invalidating me,
the struggle is real.

(vii)
I shift my focus,
back to what you are saying-
but still hear nothing.
